Final Self Reflection

Reflecting on my first year of college in English class, I can’t help but feel a sense of growth and accomplishment. It was a transformative experience that shaped not only my academic abilities but also my perspective on literature and writing.Writing assignments played a significant role in my growth throughout the year. My Professor, Yolande Brener, provided detailed feedback on my essays, highlighting both areas of strength and areas for improvement. This constructive criticism challenged me to refine my writing style, sharpen my arguments, and enhance my overall communication skills. With each assignment, I felt myself becoming a more confident and effective writer. One of the most rewarding aspects of the course was witnessing my progress. Comparing my initial essays to my later ones, I could see improvements in structure, clarity, and analysis. This progress not only boosted my confidence but also encouraged me to set higher standards for myself and strive for excellence in my work. Beyond the academic aspects, the English class fostered a sense of community. Collaborative group projects and class discussions allowed me to connect with my peers on a deeper level. I appreciated the opportunity to learn from their unique perspectives and build meaningful relationships. My first year English course in college was a remarkable experience that opened my mind to new perspectives and challenged my writing skills. From the moment I stepped into the classroom, I knew it was going to be a great journey, and it did not disappoint. One of the things that made this course so special was my Professor. She was knowledgeable, passionate, and genuinely cared about her students’ success. Her enthusiasm for the subject was contagious, and she made the class engaging and interactive.

 One of the highlights of the course was the group project. The project required us to work collaboratively, communicate effectively, and synthesize information from different sources. It was a great opportunity to practice teamwork and presentation skills, as well as learn from our peers’ perspectives. Another aspect that made the course so valuable was the feedback I received on my writing. My Professor was thorough in her evaluations, providing constructive criticism that helped me identify areas for improvement. 

Looking back on my first year of college in English class, I am immensely grateful for the experience. It provided me with the tools to think critically, communicate effectively, and appreciate the beauty of language. Moreover, it instilled in me a lifelong love for literature and a desire to continue exploring its depths. As I move forward in my academic journey, I carry with me the valuable lessons and fond memories from my first year English class.
